What it's all about ...Amusing Yourself to Death reviews, reports on and promotes zines (a zine is a self-published work more concerned with content than profit; zine rhymes with "clean"). AYTD wouldn't be here if there weren't people who actually gave a rat's ass about something and decided to write about it. After reading this issue, pass it along to your friends and enemies and write to some of the zinesters listed in here. You won't find 99% of zines on newstands, but that doesn't make their publications any less important than Newsweek or Sports Illustrated. On the contrary, they are MUCH more relevant than the watered-down, sanitized-for-our-protection corporate media that we're spoonfed every day.
